Family support

This is something that will be valuable to both a rider and parents. Thinking back to my career and my success I’ve had, I really owe all of it to my family. My dad was my biggest critic but also my right hand guy. If you want to make something of your career you’re going to have to get along with your dad/mom or son, learn to be a team and be honest with each other. You should always consider others options,( if your dad has a suggestion, and he’s never rode a bike before you should still consider) after all, sometimes Spectators can see a different perspective that you may not feel or see. Heck, my mom used to help me all the time even when I was an “A” rider. So please take that into consideration next time you’re arguing with your dad or Mom on the track. Help is help in my opinion, and it’s always worth a listen. I always tell my riders in my class I may not always be “right” so if it doesn’t feel right please be open with me and we can work around it. Of course there are some black and white areas but that does not mean all riders are the same. I remember racing Barcia in ‘08 winter AMs ‘and he used to ride a 125 two stroke using so much clutch and of course we were all taught slipping the clutch is “bad” but to this day I don’t think I’ve seen someone as fast as him on a 2 stroke it “worked” for him so i really believe there is no “right” or “wrong” way to ride you just have to cater to your style. This is usually what we work on.
